At 6:59 in the morning (last Wednesday), Jack came charging into my bedroom yelling "It's Daddy's birthday today!".
This is a day very similar to Christmas in Jack's book. The kids and I spent the morning making red velvet cake and wrapping gifts. Jack could not wait and Matt kept saying "I eat the cake?" "When is it my birthday?". The excitement was intense.
Luckily Terry came home right on time and we were able to eat dinner, down some cake and play outside for a while.
It was a nice day - but I am glad it only comes once a year.
