The Green Blanket

Jack and Terry had a very special moment last night when he shared his blanket with daddy. Jack is obsessed with the green blanket and carries it everywhere in the house. But last night, for some reason, he let Terry lay on it and even asked him to bite it (Jack's favorite thing to do with the blanket). This all came on the heels of Jack eating a cheeseburger for the first time. For months we have been giving him ground beef and he would refuse. Last night he ate about a quarter of my burger and then half a chicken. Terry and I just stared at him. He seems to surprise us with something new everyday.

Fire Truck

This morning Jack sat down at his table very quietly, looked at his favorite puzzle and said "fire truck". I nearly fainted. We just borrowed a fire truck from a cousin and Jack has been playing with it non stop. It just amazes me that he is soaking everything in and understanding so much. He is very proud of his new word and repeated it for daddy and Grandma. Jack just made my day.

Pop (Grandpa Wally)

Jack and I spent the morning at my grandparents house with my mom and Aunt Debbie. Jack could not get enough of Grandpa Wally. I think Jack might like him more than Elmo!

The South Side Irish Parade

The biggest event for the South Side is their annual South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade. This is Jack's first year witnessing the festivities. He was amazed by all of the trucks, dogs, marching bands and cheerleaders. Terry had a hard time taking a picture of Jack's face because Jack could not take his eyes off the parade. Terry and my sister Lauren met up with grandma Janet and Terry's aunts and uncles. It was a great day with perfect weather. I wish we could take Jack to a parade every week.

Older Brothers

My girlfriend from Indianapolis came for a visit last week with her two boys. Ben and Dan are 3 1/2 and 2 1/2. Jack loved having them. I think he thrived on the excitement that 3 toddlers create in a house. Maureen and I the other hand enjoyed the toddler naps and early bedtimes. It was a short but sweet trip and we hope to see them this summer for some backyard fun. (Maureen and I will be in lawn chairs with a case of Miller Lite - right Mo?)

The Eating Game

In the past, Jack had been such a great eater. Now he is very picky and has even stopped eating some of his old favorites like mangos, green beans, carrots and grapes. Luckily, we have daddy on our side. Terry devised a game that gets Jack to either finish his dinner or eat a few things he would not eat normally. We have ended almost every meal with "the eating game". As you can see from the video, Jack is thoroughly enjoying the game and his food.
